Agbogbloshie

Accra, Ghana. Agbogbloshie is one of the world’s largest digital dumping grounds. About 40,000 boy’s and young men, demolish old devices and burn wires into marketable metals. The dumping and processing of electronic waste, pollutes the area and poses a serious threat to the environment. Unprotected workers are continuously exposed to toxic chemicals and facing health problems. The waste is often exported from industrialized countries that have ratified the Basel Convention in 1989.
